One Step Misery: Kentucky Meth Epidemic
An informational presentation on “One Step Misery: Kentucky Meth Epidemic” will be given at Hazard Community and Technical College on Tuesday, Oct. 11, starting at 6 p.m. in Room 223-FFC. The manufacturing of methamphetamine should scare you! But how much do you really know about it? For years we have taken steps to combat the growing meth epidemic, but each year we are setting new records for meth production. Kentucky currently ranks fourth nationally in meth lab incidents. Children are unknowingly being contaminated at school. Toxic chemicals are discarded and become a public health nightmare. Taxpayers spend millions of dollars on uncompensated medical care for victims of meth lab explosions. The simplicity of the manufacturing process puts us all at risk. This presentation will explain why you should be concerned.

Clean Your Medicine Cabinet Out Day
Citizens brought 7,187 pills for destruction during a “Clean Your Medicine Cabinet Out Day” event held Thursday, November 4, at the ARH Community Pharmacy in Hazard. UNITE’s mobile incinerator, dubbed the “Pill Dragon,” consumed the pills on site. A free medicine lock box was available for the first 10 people.

Support groups
The coalition sponsors weekly Lifeline “Stepping Into Freedom,” “Anger Management,” and “Concerned Persons” groups at New Hope Church in Hazard.
