MOREHEAD – Eight more suspected drug dealers were arrested in the third week of Sheriff Jack Carter’s “Operation Rowan Roundup.”

Carter said he is “very, very pleased” with the feedback his office is receiving from private citizens using a confidential tip line (606-784-3880) and website (www.rowancountysheriff.net) to report suspicious behavior.

“Our citizens are responding to the need for information and I am most grateful for their assistance,” Carter said. “Drug investigations often require weeks of detective work and I hope our tipsters don’t become impatient. The information we are receiving on suspected drug activity is helping in Rowan County and we are also sharing it with other jurisdictions.”

As was the case last week, most of the recent arrests are related to the sale of oxycodone in the form of Percocet, according to Chief Deputy Joe Cline.

The arrests announced Monday bring to 28 the total in Operation Rowan Roundup since it began earlier this month. A total of 77 indictments have been returned.
