MANCHESTER – A Clay County man was arrested on three drug trafficking charges after a variety of prescription pills was found in his possession.

Operation UNITE arrested 43-year-old James O. Acker on one count each of first-degree, second-degree and third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

Acting upon complaints, UNITE detectives, along with Clay County Sheriff Kevin Johnson and Deputy Gary Harris, went to Acker’s home on Gregory Branch Road about 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 6.

“He came out the door, appeared very nervous and tried to walk away,” said Dan Smoot, law enforcement director for UNITE.

Officers searched Acker and found three prescription pill bottles with six different types of medication in his pants pocket, including Oxycodone, OxyContin, Percocet, Hydrocodone, Xanax and Suboxone. They also found more than $1,000 in cash.

Acker was lodged at the Clay County Detention Center.
