I started using at a young age, and it progressed over the years to the point I was using needles. I lied, cheated, stole just whatever it took to get my next fix. I tried to quit but to no avail. I’d go to prison get out clean and make it for a short time. I just couldn’t do it.

Finally, I had had enough. I went in my mom’s basement and chained myself to a steel post until I could get into rehab. My mother contacted UNITE and managed to get a treatment voucher for me. I went to WestCare in October 2011.

While there, on Dec. 24, we had a Christian music group there. They had done an altar call, and I went running up. I rededicated my life to the Lord and sincerely asked him to take away all my addiction.

Since that moment, I haven’t had the desire to use any more. I’ll have 7 years clean on Oct. 16 this year. I have a beautiful wife and three kids. I bought a house and own a roofing business. I’ve mended a lot of fences in this short time. It has only been by God’s Grace that I’ve made it this far. It ain’t always easy, and it’s quite hard at times, but Christ always gets me through. Amen.
