The theme for the 4th Annual Morgan County Drug Summit is “Let’s Speak About Drugs: Raising Awareness. Saving Lives.” This community event will be held Thursday, October 17, at the Morgan County Board of Education building starting at 6 pm. A program on vaping and marijuana will be presented.

One of the big youth prevention initiatives in Morgan County is archery, with programs established at both the high school and middle school. They are in the process of implementing archery programs at each of the elementary schools.

The Morgan County UNITE Coalition has also provided funding for an archery program outside of the school with a group called Appalachian Outdoorsmen Families Afield that brings families together for outdoor activities. During the summer the Coalition hosts a weekly anti-drug night at the local pool where kids get in free. They also conduct a Project Prom each spring and have a Thespian Program at the high school.

The biggest event, however, is the community symposium, to be held this year on Thursday, August 17. Click here to download a flyer.
