LONDON – Operation UNITE recognized long-time Board member Cheryl Hickman with an appreciation award during its monthly Board meeting December 19.  Tom Vicini, President & CEO, along with Board Chair Jackie Steele, made the award presentation virtually due to inclement weather in Pike County.

Vicini said the award was presented in appreciation of Hickman’s decade of loyal service as a UNITE Board Member and her commitment to UNITE’s mission.

Hickman, Senior Vice President and Chief Regulatory Officer for Pikeville Medical Center, has served on UNITE’s Board of Directors since July 2013.

In accepting the honor, Hickman noted that Operation UNITE is “an organization that started small but is making a big difference in Kentucky” – and elsewhere – for both children and adults.

She stated that UNITE’s impact is due, in part, to building one-on-one relationships and showing an on-going concern for those impacted by substance use.

In addition, UNITE’s Community Coalitions provide grassroots prevention and support to their family members, co-workers, friends and neighbors.

“There’s something in everyone where they can give back,” Hickman stated. “They want to feel they are a part of something good.”
