My name is Tommy Melton. I have been in recovery for seven years now. I was hooked on cocaine and opiates — really just about anything I could get my hands on. I came from a very loving family who stood behind me through it all. I got into a car accident while on drugs and alcohol one night and got sentenced to 5 years in prison. After I got out, I had 5 more years on probation. I lasted about a day before I was back drinking again and two days before back using any type of drug again.

So it wasn’t long before I was taken back into custody again. Only this time, my future wife and I had a baby on the way. I was looking at 5 more years in prison, but my wife pleaded with the judge to got me treatment. He accepted long-term treatment. So my wife contacted UNITE, and I received a voucher that helped pay for the rehabilitation. I got into Chad’s Hope – Teen Challenge of Kentucky and learned that through God, all things are possible. So 7 years later now, I serve a mighty God, I’m a proud father of two beautiful children and a happily married man.

I would like to thank UNITE for the voucher, which was apparently a tool for God. It’s organizations like these that can make a difference in people’s lives.
